Bridgework

This is one of the most memorable cases I have ever treated.  This patient had come to my office for a number of years, and I’d always hated the way his smile looked, but certainly never told him that.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I don’t like to force anything on my patients.  Several times I mentioned that we could enhance his smile greatly with a new bridge (which was replacing his missing his four upper front teeth).  He wasn’t interested.

A few years later, he developed a cavity around this bridge, which was twenty to twenty-five years old.  So it was now imperative that we replace the old bridge with a new one.

Well, after we were done, I sent him copies of the before and after photographs.  Wow, did he become angry when he saw those photos!!  Not angry at me, but angry at his wife.  He said to her, “How in the world could you let me walk around for over twenty years looking like a vampire without telling me?!!”  He LOVES the new result.  And so does everyone else.
