Did you know that our intraoral camera is not just for YOU to see?
If you are already a patient of ours, you’ve probably been amazed
to see your teeth up close and personal on a TV monitor via an intraoral
camera. But did you know that this new technology actually helps
Dr. Kurthy do an even better job of checking your teeth?
An intraoral camera is a small video camera that takes pictures
of your teeth inside your mouth. It looks like a pen or small
wand.

The arrow is pointing to the actual lens of the camera. This
is the portion that is held in the mouth -- it is about as large as a
pen. It has its own fiberoptic light source right next to the lens. It
can magnify the inside of the mouth more than 40 times. The images
are recorded on a computer disk and shown on a color TV monitor.

You've heard that a picture is worth a thousand words haven't you? Well,
it's true. We like for our patients to see and understand any problems
in their mouths. Seeing your own teeth magnified on a TV monitor,
it's easy for Dr. Kurthy to teach you what you need to know to prevent
dental problems. And for kids? Kids love to be a star! They
love seeing their own teeth on TV. It is a great way to motivate
them to spend more time cleaning their mouths.
Not only can we educate you about your own mouth using this, but it
actually helps Dr. Kurthy see any problems sooner. Isn’t
that what a dental check-up is all about -- finding problems when they’re
small – before they become major problems?
